Covenant is committed to our Northern Virginian community, and the world, by word and deed. Becoming active in our ministry can be a wonderful opportunity you and your family to participate fully in the church. The church is hope for the world and we believe we carry this good news to the community by reaching out. As relative new comers to the community we are now just beginning our efforts to find where we can be the most service and let people know we are here, and what we believe.
If you are interested in working with us in our community we have an upcoming meeting to discuss what we know about our new community, what we can do to help and provide the tools to equip us with what we need to know to reach out and help our neighbors. On a practical level God has given us all voices and a story to tell which can bring hope to others. A few moments of thought about what we say to others, when given the opportunity, about our faith can be of a great comfort to others. Practice this when you get the chance.
Mexico Church Building Covenant has also had a long-standing relationship with the church in Mexico. Every year a large group of Covenant families have spent their Easter holiday building churches in the Yucatan Peninsula. Ask anyone who has been on the mission what they think of the experience. Everyone will say they received much more than they could have possibly given to that loving, caring community. | |
Joplin Missouri Response
Joplin Mission Trip--Members from our congregation and others who heard of our trip went to Joplin for a week in October. Joplin was in the rebuilding phase. This includes 2000 uninsured homes which require 900 volunteers a day for the next five years. Make a difference in someone's life. You won't regret it, and you will feel great in return. All skill levels are welcome from socializer to helper to expert. Like to cook? We'd like to have a cook along for the trip. We tend to work better when we're well fed. There are sponsoring opportunities available as well.
